General Hospital character Laura Webber Collins has had four different husbands, and now, her portrayer, Genie Francis, is opening up about how the actor who played her first and fourth (or third or fifth, depending on how you view illegal unions) on-screen mate holds a close place in her heart!

General Hospital, think of Scotty

Recently, Francis sat down with Maurice Benard (Sonny) on his State of Mind YouTube talk show, on which he interviews celebrities about mental health and their careers. Francis was joined by her husband, actor/director Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation; Bare Essence; North & South), when she recalled Laura's first serious boyfriend, Scotty (Kin Shriner).

“Kin Shriner is just, I just love him, and I always will,” Francis said. “First boyfriend in my life, important person in my life. Always remembers my birthday to this day. Always calls me on my birthday. You know he was a great boyfriend. He took such good care of me. During that period of time, when I was so lonely, basically. The happy time that I had...the happiest time that I had on that show was when I was with him.”

Frakes got in on the questioning, too, when he asked Francis if Shriner had taken her for a ride on his famous Vespa that he's shown on social media. “No, he didn't have a Vespa," Francis replied. "He had a motorcycle. He took me out on that. That was fun. My parents weren’t happy.”

Asked Benard, "So if you weren't with Luke [Anthony Geary], you would have been with Scotty. Is that the way it works?”

“I was with Scotty. Yeah, first," Francis replied. Longtime viewers recall Scotty and Laura getting married in the park in the summer of 1979, when they read poetry from Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

“My first day at General Hospital, Steve Burton [Jason] says I was just an [expletive]," Benard shared about his first day on the show back in 1993 when Sonny was running the Paradise lounge. "I just didn’t talk to anybody. I was a method actor, you know, playing this mob guy. And the first day, Kin Shriner comes in [and] I didn't know him. And he's like… ‘Listen, I'll give you some advice… Never let them [expletive] with your character.’"
