General Hospital's Charlotte is finally back in Port Charles with her family, where she belongs, so she can enjoy her teenage years with her mom and brother. Scarlett Fernandez, the actress who has played Luke and Laura's granddaughter since 2016, is enjoying a big teen milestone — her big sweet 16.
General Hospital star's milestone birthday
Fernandez was born on August 4, 2009, in Southern California. She landed the GH role of a mysterious little girl named Charlotte in 2016, brought to town by her alleged mother, Claudette. She's played Charlotte on and off on a recurring basis ever since, while earning various other screen credits.
Through the years, Fernandez has appeared on Jane the Virgin, American Housewife, Shameless, American Horror Story, and Shameless Hall of Fame. When not appearing on General Hospital, the newly-crowned 16-year-old lives with her parents in Idaho, where she is a champion high school volleyball player.
Charlotte's not-so-charmed Port Charles life
Since Fernandez was only seven years old when she made her GH debut, she has grown up right along with Charlotte, but it's been a rocky ride for the character. Claudette (Bree Williamson) first claimed that Griffin Munroe (Matt Cohen) was Charlotte's dad before moving on to Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) in the daddy sweepstakes.
Eventually, we learned that Charlotte was really the daughter of Lulu Spencer (then played by Emme Rylan) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), via a stolen embryo. Helena (Constance Towers) stole Lulu's frozen egg, created a child using Valentin's sperm, and had the embryo implanted in Claudette. When Valentin learned what had happened, he made sure he became the baby's guardian and raised her as his precious little princess.
As Charlotte grew, her spoiled side came out. In the third grade, she drove Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) to quit teaching when she bullied Aiden Webber (then played by Jason David). She seemed to mellow a bit during her early teen years, until we discovered she was stalking and terrorizing Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), which led Anna to accidentally shoot her.
Since recovering from a bullet wound, Charlotte has changed her ways. After a stint running from the law with Valentin, Charlotte is now home again, living with her mother and attending high school in Port Charles.

While we haven't seen her on-screen over the last few months, we expect Fernandez to make an appearance soon. For now, Soap Central wishes the young actress a very happy sweet 16.
