Scarlett Spears has a way of stopping time on General Hospital, even when she’s not in the room for long. As Donna Corinthos, she’s one of those rare child actors who doesn’t feel like a device or a distraction, just an important part of the show. That natural ease is exactly what made fans swoon this week, after a new clip surfaced online and quietly revealed just how early that confidence showed up.
The audition that opened the door for a General Hospital star
Charlie Bear Productions’ official Instagram page shared part of an audition video of Spears with the caption, “BIG NEWS! Huge congrats to Scarlett Spears on booking Young Glinda in WICKED! 💚🩷. I had the honor of directing Scarlett’s Spears in her FIRST EVER film, There Can Be Light. Her talent was undeniable from day one. To celebrate, I’ve just dropped her full audition tape for There Can Be Light on my YouTube channel! Plus, you can watch the entire film there, too.”
In the brief video attached to the post, Spears introduces herself simply and without hesitation: “Hi everyone, my name is Scarlet Briel Pierce. I'm 4.5 years old. LA local hire.”
In the longer clip, Spears rehearses opposite an off-screen scene partner, who reads the narration: “And the baby chicken, no longer alone, finally felt like she belonged.” Spears responds in character with, “Thanks, Aunt Libby,” before the scene partner continues, “Thank you for listening. I really appreciate it.”
Spears then calls out, “Aunt Libby! Aunt Libby!” prompting the reply, “Hey, sweet girl.” She asks, “Are we going to walk together? Will you hold my hand?” and the scene partner answers, “Of course, little Aves. Of course.” After the scene ends, Spears goes into the same introduction from the Instagram clip.
A General Hospital star from Port Charles to Oz, With No Detours

Spears, who also goes by Scarlett Briel Pierce, has been quietly building a résumé that stretches well beyond daytime. In addition to continuing her role as Donna on GH, she appears as Young Glinda in Wicked: For Good, released in late 2025, playing the younger version of Ariana Grande’s character. She also portrayed Young Dora in Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado and has an upcoming role as Zoe in The Last Mrs. Parrish, directed by the iconic Robert Zemeckis and starring Jennifer Lopez.
She also stopped by her General Hospital co-star Maurice Benard’s State of Mind recently, where she talked about her work and what it feels like to be growing up in this space. Nothing felt rehearsed or oversized. Just a kid who’s comfortable in the room and already understands the rhythm of the job.
The reaction to the audition followed that same tone. Comments ranged from coworkers recalling her talent on set to viewers marveling at her screen presence. Words like “precious,” “undeniable,” and “goosebumps” popped up repeatedly, alongside disbelief at her age and excitement for what’s coming next.
The Spears family account summed it up best with, “Oh my goodness… sweet little snookemmmm.” (Find out how Spears paid tribute to her GH character’s namesake.)
General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
