You wouldn’t think General Hospital’s Molly was a funny person. The character has been very driven over the course of her life to over-achieve and worked her way up to becoming assistant district attorney. Joking and fooling around has never really been on Molly’s radar, whether she was portrayed by her originator, Hayley Pullos, or currently by Kristen Vaganos. However, actors tend to let their hair down on social media and share other sides of themselves and their skills with their fans. General Hospital's Vaganos did exactly that recently.

Content Machine has posted several hilarious comedy sketches online, and recently shared a video on Instagram starring General Hospital’s Vaganos and titled “Parents Then vs Now.” The caption read, “I’ll take the early 2000’s parents please.” General Hospital viewers who grew up watching the show will definitely relate to the video.

The comments that came in were hilarious:

In the video, Vaganos and another actor were pretending to be parents entering a room in different decades. The first was from the 1940s with Vaganos dressed as a nurse and holding a (fake) baby with another actor playing her husband dressed as a sailor from then with a black uniform and white gob hat. As they burst in, the father asks (presumably an older child), “You've been back talking your mother?” He grabs his belt and pulls it to make a whipping sound, yelling, “Boy, come here, I'm gonna give you 20.”

The second scene has the parents entering again, this time from the 1950s, with Vaganos dressed as a housewife in a red dress with white polka dots and stirring something in a mixing bowl, looking dismayed at the (off-camera) child in the room. Dad is dressed in a brown leather jacket with blue jeans and a t-shirt, and he yells, “Boy, you've been playing hooky from school.” Again, he yanks off his belt and snaps it like a whip, explaining, “Come here, I'm gonna give you 10.”

Next is the 1960s with Dad in a polo shirt, peace sign necklace, and afro wig on. General Hospital’s Vaganos looks very 60s in a dress with a green and white flower pattern. Dad yells, “Michael, you've been smoking Mary Jane.” In this instance, he just holds up the belt and states, “Don't make me give you one.”

Next, we skip the 1970s and jump to the 1980s, with Dad in a blue and white varsity jacket and Mom sporting a pastel-colored one-piece track suit. Dad states, “You stole my Corvette, and you took Mary Beth to makeout point?” It’s here that we start to see parenting crumble as Mom chimes in, “You are grounded, mister. No homecoming!”

The next clip jumps to the 2000s, with Mom wearing a pink exercise outfit, earbuds, and large sunglasses, while Dad has a white tank top and pants with sunglasses and a headset on. Mom yells, “Did you forget to return the Blockbuster rentals again?” Dad adds, “Somebody's going to pay for those, mister, and let me tell you something, it's not…” Mom and Dad hilariously shake their shoulders, uttering the next words in singsong voices: “gonna be me.” Clearly, we see punishments further becoming meaningless.

In the 2010s segment, Mom and Dad are dressed in loose-fitting grunge outfits, complete with Mom wearing a ski cap and Dad a flannel shirt under a vest. Things become cringy as Dad states, “Yo, you got an F? That is not swag.” Mom adds, “That's an epic fail, young lady.

We finally see parental authority completely break down as the 2020s parents are dressed in t-shirts and jeans, with Dad holding a tote bag on his shoulder and Mom carrying a large drink container. They cautiously enter, presumably so as not to hurt the child’s precious feelings, and Mom gently states, “Honey, we're limiting your iPad used to only 12 hours a day.” From off-screen, a ball flies through the air, smacking Dad on the head. Out of breath, he then states, “You are so right. We're the problem,” illustrating how weak many parents have become.

Then we see the future of parenting in the 2040s: Mom and Dad enter wearing wacky outfits that are like something out of a low-budget 80s sci-fi film. Vaganos states, “You were caught uranium dumping? Your father and I did not design you to be this environmentally unconscious.” Dad then yells, “Now stop running simulations on your neuralink before we end your free thought premium subscription.”

Things go completely off the rails as we finally reach the 2100s, with the parents wearing outfits like something out of a post-apocalyptic film. Mom yells, “What did we say about speaking out against the overseers?” and Dad hilariously adds, “If you do that, they're going to take away our water rights, and then we're going to die.”

General Hospital fans really loved Vaganos' performance in the video, with many praising her hilarity.

@uchiha_ouji commented, “I love how there is no 1970s because the parents were simply nonexistent in the kids lives.” @poliester2025 responded to that with, “@uchiha_ouji Kids were out in the wild, riding bikes outside,” and @platinummindedrecordings continued the thought by replying, “@uchiha_ouji GEN X!!!!! we raised ourselves.”
