It's been close to a year since Scotty Baldwin vanished without a trace on General Hospital. Now, it looks like it's really a wrap for Kin Shriner, the actor who played him off and on for four decades.
Kin Shriner says farewell again
Shriner has posted a few social media farewells over the years, but somehow Scotty would always reappear after a few months. However, Shriner has revealed that Jens Austin Astrup (Kai Taylor) now has his longtime dressing room, meaning it just might be the end of Scotty's time in Port Charles for real.
"This day comes for all actors," Shriner wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "Kin who!!! All u can do is wash it down with a martini and know that people want to take a pic with u every day I had a great run thanks @GeneralHospitalfans for decades of support!!!"
On June 15th, Shriner posted a video of him knocking on his own dressing room door, with the caption, "Who is it?"
What really happened to Scotty?

Port Charles residents haven't seen Scotty since August 16, 2024, when he was helping Ava (Maura West) keep the pharamacist who switched Sonny's (Maurice Benard) bipolar meds hostage. He had gone out for some snacks for the man, but the next thing we knew, his bag of snacks was on the ground and Scott was nowhere to be found.
Scott has been barely spoken of since, except when Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) took over Heather Webber's (Alley Mills) cobalt poisoning case because Scotty as indisposed. Otherwise, nobody seems to care what happened to the legal eagle.
Shriner began his career on General Hospital as Lee Baldwin's (Peter Hansen) young adult son in 1977. Scotty's romance with a teenage Laura Webber (Genie Francis) helped gain him popularity with soap fans, but Shriner chose to leave GH in 1980 to star as Jeb Hampton on a new NBC soap, Texas. By 1981, Shriner was back on GH just in time to catch the bouquet at Luke and Laura's wedding.
Shriner also brought Scotty to the GH spin-off, Port Charles, where he starred opposite Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe) and Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins). In recent years, Scotty has been a supporting player, but it seems clear that fans want the character back. Will it ever happen? Time will tell...
