As General Hospital’s Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) tries to minimize the damage to the Cassadine estate that’s been caused by Ava (Maura West) and Ric’s (Rick Hearst) blackmail, her nephew Nikolas (Adam Huss) is still cooling his heels in prison. The last time we saw Nikolas was when Ava visited him in April 2024. Huss recently took to social media to reminisce about his time on the show.

The fans made his night

Adam Huss appeared at the recent General Hospital Fan Club Event and shortly after posted about it on Instagram. He shared a video in which he stated, “I just came from a fan event for General Hospital held by the fans in Burbank, and I got to meet all the fans and you guys made my night, so I'm just putting this out there to say if you're listening to this, you made this guy's night, you make me know that I'm valued because I have no idea if I'll be back on General Hospital, not as Nicholas, but I love playing him.” He stated his appreciation for the fans, which made him feel valued, adding that while he values himself, “To understand that people enjoyed your performance as a character that you love playing means the world.”

His appreciation was deep, and he wrote a lengthy passage to go with it that began, “The soap world can be a really interesting space to navigate. You get this great opportunity to step in and play really layered characters with performers at the top of their game, some of whom are soap royalty who’ve been doing this for decades. And you have to show up, step up, and rise to the occasion. Whether you’re playing a new character or taking over an epic character like [Nikolas Cassadine], you have to do what you do best without thinking about what others may think, WHILE hoping the audience embraces you and your choices.” (Learn about Huss’ team-up with General Hospital alum, Ted King.)

He felt the love

The General Hospital star noted that stepping into such shoes is “interesting,” because the fans span multiple generations. And taking on the part of a character that’s been on the show for decades can be an almost daunting task because it can polarize the viewers. Despite doing one’s best, an actor may not know how well they’re doing or even if the fans are enjoying the performance. “But then you go out and meet the fans, and they make you know that what you did, poured your heart and soul into, mattered. They did care. They do root for you. They do value you.” He said he could feel their love during the event.

He thanked the organizers of the event, as well as those who worked on it, and of course, the fans. Days of Our Lives’ Greg Rikaart (Leo) shared some heart emojis, and Huss noted that he read every single fan response. The fan responses were almost as verbose as Huss, and @queenjsha_92 shared what was on the mind of many with the response, “We miss you onscreen and I enjoy you as Nikolas and tell [executive producer Frank Valentini] we want you back and for him to get Nik out of prison!!!! I'm ready for my Cassadines to return!!!” (Find out how Huss became a fashionista.)

General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
