There was a time when General Hospital fans enjoyed the strained relationship between Marcus Coloma’s Nikolas and Maurice Benard’s Sonny. Sadly, Coloma left the part in 2022, leaving fans beside themselves. However, he and Benard continued collaborating on fun videos on social media. Often, Coloma has created some funny videos with Kin Shriner (Scotty Baldwin), with an assist from Benard. Recently, the two created another hilarious video, reminding the fans that sometimes the best entertainment happens when soap stars go completely off script.
The artist revealed
Former General Hospital star Marcus Coloma recently shared a new clip on Instagram that he dubbed ‘The Artist.’ He explained the premise in his caption, writing, “The Artist: what a great episode this was, I got to interview the famous artist who created the incredible Valley Mural of Los Angeles. I learned quite a bit. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.”
The video itself, however, took a far sillier turn than the description implied. Instead of a real muralist, Coloma’s “guest” was none other than Maurice Benard, who fully committed to a fake persona and reeled off a string of increasingly absurd answers. What began as a seemingly straight interview quickly spiraled into comic chaos. The clip has to be seen to be believed, but one example of their banter was when Benard, in a store, stated, “Watermelon is very refreshing and…it's really good for your porcelain.” Coloma asked, “Did you say porcelain?” to which the General Hospital actor replied, “Yeah, this watermelon right here is made from the ise-land.”
Fans Loved the Absurdity

General Hospital Fans wasted no time chiming in, and the laughter carried straight into the comment section. @roseannemcg1 cracked up at Benard’s oddball watermelon tangent, adding, “Very entertaining guest. Watermelon has lots of potassium.” Meanwhile, @e.montanaro zeroed in on one of the strangest lines, posting, “Good for your porcelain,” while @kelly.mcpoland thanked him for the endorsement with, “Thanks for the watermelon porcelain endorsement!!.” And when Benard proudly declared, “I’m sexy,” @sammariechase laughed along: “Lol. He said, ‘I’m sexy. ’ But I can detect no lies 😂.”
Others highlighted just how over-the-top the improvised answers had been. @chrissytassone1 admitted she was doubled over after hearing, “I was playing with a skateboard on a big ass banana holding my side FOR REAL.” Another General Hospital viewer, @stdipiet, leaned into the geography gag, quipping, “Ohhh Maurice means OYCE-lind, straight off Exit 63 in Jersey.” And @marcuscoloma_world summed up the whole spoof with, “Somewhere Bob Ross is smiling…Happy Little Murals in the Valley!”
On General Hospital, the fictional city of Port Charles sits on the coast of Lake Erie, so it was no surprise that Benard had a shirt with the Great Lakes on it. The t-shirt love was almost as loud as the laughter, with @chrissytassone1 gushing, “Oh my God, Maurice, I love your T-shirt. Oh yeah, I live on the Great Lakes, Lake Erie.” Fellow fans joined in with praise for the Michigan-themed tee, while @megjam12 and @jewseej proudly identified themselves as Michiganders too.
Between the banana jokes and the Great Lakes apparel, the comment thread proved that Coloma and Benard’s offbeat humor hits fans right where it counts.
General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
