General Hospital's Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) continues to find herself deeper and deeper in trouble, but the ABC soap's head writers preview that things will get better -- after they get a whole lot worse.

General Hospital viewers have been in absolute shock over the deep hole that Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has found herself in. She's struggling with alcohol addiction, can no longer practice law, has recently lost two loves, and made an enemy out of Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) for sleeping with Ned (Wally Kurth). Now she's in trouble for accidentally stabbing Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) with a syringe full of potentially-lethal lidocaine. So, the question now is whether or not the character's dark period will finally come to an end -- or if Alexis' life will get even worse?

GH head writers Chris Van Etten and Dan O'Connor spoke with She Knows about what they have in store for Alexis, and while they say that there are still a lot of dark moments for the character to come, they also promise that things will eventually turn around.

"She is going to be on a quest to resume her mantle as a legal eagle and leader in Port Charles. But in order to get there, she's got to get over her illness," the writers preview. "And that will take some time."

So, while there is light at the end of the tunnel, fans shouldn't expect an overnight transformation from Alexis. But at least the transformation is coming, with Van Etten teasing, "She's going to face some more trouble before she starts to pick herself up, dust herself off, and start kicking ass like the Alexis that we know she is at heart."
