General Hospital fans were thrilled to see a recent father/daughter reunion between Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina Corinthos) during a chat on the former's Instagram account. It's been a long time since the two actors shared the screen, and Ainsworth explains that it's because she's purposefully been MIA from her regular life.
"I'm in England," she revealed to her TV dad. "I've been gone for three months!"
The actress went on to share that she's not exactly sure when she'll return to the States, but she assured Benard that she won't be gone forever.
"I'm coming back -- I'm just waiting for a reason to come back," she said. "But I went through a break-up recently, and I'm having like an Eat, Pray, Love moment."
Ainsworth revealed that her breakup was "a lot," because she and her former beau had been living together for five years. Feeling heartbroken, she booked a one-way trip to Rome at the beginning of March and has been on a solo journey around Europe since.
"With auditions being remote and I'm not filming on [General Hospital], I thought, 'Well, I have nothing going on, so, I might as well travel and find myself,'" the young actress shared, adding, "If anyone has the opportunity to do a trip by themselves, you learn a lot... It's been a good, nice healing process."
As for when Kristina might return to GH, Benard seemed to hint that there is some material coming up. "You would know before me!" joked Ainsworth, prompting Benard to respond, "That's where I'm going to leave it for now."
In conclusion, Ainsworth teased, "Stay tuned, I guess!"
