Emma Samms returns to General Hospital on April 17 as part of a short-term story arc that is part of the ABC's 60th anniversary celebration. While some of the details are being kept under wraps, the story will involve Holly wanting to see Victor Cassadine brought to justice for holding her captive. As well as a lot of other dirty deeds that Victor has committed.
It's only been about six months since Samms last appeared on General Hospital. That fiery return was so well received by fans, that Samms was a bit concerned that another return might not match that previous success.
"I think that it was almost too good last time," Samms told Soap Opera Digest. "It was so perfect and so well-received that maybe I should have stepped away [from GH] permanently, and left on such a high."
Fans will undoubtedly be relieved that GH was able to convince the actress to return to the show. And Samms admits that the support of fans has been one of the driving forces behind her GH return.
"That's who we're doing this for; everything we do is for them, and their enthusiasm and support is what motivates me. There's absolutely no other reason to do it," Samms explained.
Fans have also been supportive and sent their love to Samms as she continues her battle with Long COVID. According to Samms, she has faced daily battles with fatigue, changes in blood pressure, breathlessness, and ringing in her ears (tinnitus). Data from the Census Bureau states that over 16 million people in the US currently suffer from Long COVID.
It's unclear if this return to General Hospital will ultimately be Samms' last, but the actress proudly states that her time on GH " has been and continues to be a joy" for her.
Emma Samms joined the cast of GH in 1982. Some of her other TV credits include Dynasty; The Colbys; Models, Inc.; and Doctors.
