Pint-sized General Hospital star Jophielle Love nabs Emmy nomination for her own original song

A little tune about love and happiness has earned General Hospital's Jophielle Love her first very first Daytime Emmy nomination -- as a songwriter.

When General Hospital's Brook Lynn and Chase announced their engagement in December, Chase's young niece Violet had a surprise for the happy couple. She handed her uncle a guitar and performed her own original song for the pair -- a song written by Jophielle Love, the nine-year-old actress who has been bringing Violet to life since 2019.

Now, "Shine" has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the Original Song category. When Love first performed the tune, she took to Instagram to explain how it all came about.

"I got to sing my first original song on General Hospital @generalhospitalabc as Violet," Love wrote next to a video of Violet singing for her family. "I was a bit nervous but excited for everyone to hear my song. It was recorded live on set ... one take ... no autotuning there ... so be gentle! I hope you like it! It's called "Shine" and it will be soon available for the world to enjoy!... I wrote it myself. For the music part, I got some help: my coaches and musician friends: Derek @derek_w_dooms_music, Douglas @douglasladnier, John @johnshartzer and my voice coach Juliana @julianaasloan ... and our friend Noah. Thanks, Frank Valentini for allowing me to sing my song on the show, it means the world and I can't wait for the next one! I guess at the wedding!"

This isn't the first time a young GH performer has been nominated for an Emmy for writing an original song. William Lipton, who played Cameron Webber from 2018 to 2024, was nominated for writing "North Star" in 2020 and "Darling Darling" in 2023.

Do you think Jophielle's endearing song should win the Emmy? Should Violet sing another lovely song at Chase and Brook Lynn's wedding?
