The one question no one has asked about the Drew and Nina affair on General Hospital

Now that everyone on General Hospital knows Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) had an "affair," as everyone calls it (even Drew himself), not one of the characters has thought to ask what should be a pretty obvious question: "Why in the world would Drew have an affair with Nina, knowing she's the one who ratted him out to the SEC for insider trading? He ended up in prison because of her!"

Nina kept that secret for months in 2023 and didn't tell Sonny the truth, even when she married him in October of that year. Fans all over social media were furious with her. They pretty much viewed her as public soap opera enemy number one. They weren't sure she could ever be redeemed. And yet, after that highly dramatic storyline that resulted in all kinds of hell for Drew, no one in Port Charles has questioned why he slept with Nina, of all people.

Drew said he couldn't hit Nina, because she's a woman

Carly was standing right there in the room when Drew called Nina "vile" and told her in so many words that he was tempted to grab her and hit her. But he knew he couldn't, because she's not a man.

Not only did he end up in prison, but his young daughter, Scout (Cosette Abinante), was separated from him for months. In addition, he endured a vicious beating in the prison showers. We never did find out whether Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) ordered the beating, but that isn't surprising. We can just chalk it up to another loose end the writers didn't tie up surrounding one of the storylines.

Fans have long been speculating that Drew suffered brain damage due to that beating, which could explain why he's been manipulating, blackmailing, framing, and scheming ever since he was released from prison. It still remains a mystery. His horrible actions don't seem to be stopping any time soon, either, as he is now targeting Stella (Vernee Watson) as his next victim.

What the heck, Sonny?

Even Sonny didn't seem all that shocked that his ex-wife had a fling with Drew when he mentioned it to ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) last week. And yet, we all remember how he slammed the door in Nina's face after she finally admitted to him in January of 2024 that she was the one who called the SEC on his ex-wife, Carly. He was furious that Nina didn't think of his young daughter Donna's (Scarlett Spears) welfare when she made that call. Donna would have been left without her mother if Carly had been sent to prison.

Did Sonny, Michael, and Carly forget about the SEC secret, because it happened over a year and a half ago? Or did the writers themselves forget? We can't be sure. All we know is that the brutal prison beating Drew endured still looms over our heads as the possible reason for all of his nefarious behavior since then.
