General Hospital's Kai Taylor might not be as far gone as Willow Tait, but he is certainly getting there. His inexplicable admiration for Drew has led Kai to do the unthinkable — betray Trina's trust.
Kai acts without thinking
Kai's (Jens Austin Astrup) love and admiration for Drew (Cameron Mathison) seem as inexplicable as Willow's (Katelyn MacMullen). However, he's apparently got it bad for the crooked congressman, in a strictly hero-worship sort of way, which is kinda what is going on with Willow, but it went too far.
Trina (Tabyana Ali) worried that Kai would tell Drew that he overheard Portia (Brook Kerr) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) talking about Jacinda (Paige Herschell), the woman Drew did body shots with at The Savoy, but Curtis assured her that she could trust her own boyfriend. Welp, Curtis was wrong. As soon as the going got tough for Drew, Kai opened his big mouth, which then opened a whole can of worms.
It also opened Kai up to becoming public enemy number one for Trina fans, who are now calling for their favorite young heroine to find a new man.
General Hospital fans drag Kai
GH fans have the pitchforks out now and are coming for poor football star Kai Taylor. Some Trina lovers were already not a fan of Trina's latest pairing, often saying the romance focused too much on Kai and not Trina's feelings. Now that Kai has betrayed Trina's trust, there may be no going back.
"Trina has spent every scene she's in trying to protect Kai and in one scene he betrays her entire family..." wrote disappointed X (formerly Twitter) user @_simply_dani.
@daytimebubble feels Trina got the short shrift with Kai and is anxiously waiting for a Spencer recast, since Nicholas Alexander Chavez' career has taken off outside of soaps.
"Crazy, I saw all the discourse about Kai & Trina and stayed out of it though I felt the relationship was forced & Trina was losing some of her characteristics. FACT: Spencer would NEVER sell out Trina’s family for an internship. Free my girl," they wrote.
@tracyecorder is ready for Kai to leave Port Charles after what he did, saying, "Kai can go. Having Trina’s boyfriend betray her and her family for Drew. Get him out of here."
Some fans feel validated in how they have felt about Kai from the start. "After months of many Trina fans saying Kai sucks and after repeatedly being told weneed to move on from Sprina, are being anti-Black, need to give it time…today was at least validating cuz now there is proof that man does not care about Trina and never did," wrote @Nat4Sprina.
In the end, some General Hospital fans just want to see Trina go off and defend herself and her family against this betrayal by a young man she has done so much for, including @Beverly498459863.
"How disloyal of a person Kai proved himself to be. After #Trina put her life seemingly on hold for him, he does that?!?! Whenever she finds out, I hope her reaction is written realistically!"
