James Franco wants to host Daytime Emmys

James Franco's commitment to daytime television apparently knows no bounds. The actor, who is expected to earn an Oscar nomination in the next few weeks, has expressed a desire to host the Daytime Emmys.

For many, hosting the Academy Awards is the gig of a lifetime -- but James Franco has his sights set on hosting another awards show: the Daytime Emmys.

In December, ABC announced that Franco would co-host the Academy Awards telecast with actress Anne Hathaway, a move that was designed to show the torch being passed on to the next generation of Hollywood stars.

"Maybe next, I'll get to host the daytime Emmys," Franco told the Hollywood Reporter. "Hey, if they ask me, I might do it. I would love that."

General Hospital is taking full advantage of Franco's Oscar appearance. The ABC soap has booked the actor for a two-day GH appearance that will flank this year's Academy Awards.

"In anticipation of his upcoming co-hosting duties at the 2011 Oscars, James Franco will return to General Hospital for two episodes," a GH spokesperson tells Soap Central. Those episodes will air Friday, February 25 and Monday, February 28.

Franco is also scheduled to return to General Hospital later this year. As for whether or not he'll get to host the Daytime Emmys, that remains up in the air.
