Pretty Little Liars fans are no doubt crushed by the news that Freeform's recent spin-off of the series, The Perfectionists, was canceled after just one season. However, their bad news could be good news for General Hospital fans. The show's short life means that Hayley Erin, who left the ABC soap opera to star in the ill-fated series, is now free to perhaps return to Port Charles.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Perfectionists was canceled because it wasn't able to find the audience that made Pretty Little Liars a breakout hit. Says the outlet: "The spinoff averaged under 600,000 viewers after a week of delayed viewing (and a paltry 260,000 the night it aired); in contrast, the final season of Pretty Little Liars gathered about two million viewers per episode within seven days of air."
The series' poor ratings and subsequent cancellation is a sad development for Erin, who was thrilled by her primetime opportunity. However, the actress has been vocal about being open to returning to GH, where her character was brutally murdered by serial killer Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) earlier this year. In fact, Kiki's ghost made a one-episode appearance in August "to spend some much-needed time with her mom Ava Jerome (Maura West), who hates how her daughter was angry with her before she died." However, the ghostly appearance could have been Ava's imagination, which would leave the door open for Erin's return as Kiki -- or, as the soap has been known to do, her return as another character altogether.
Erin joined GH in 2015 after Kiki's original portrayer, Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning, One Life to Live), vacated the role. Prior to joining GH, Erin appeared as Abby Carlton on The Young and the Restless.
