Former daytime star Billy Miller (ex-Drew Cain/Jason Morgan, General Hospital; ex-Billy Abbott, The Young and the Restless; ex-Richie Novak, All My Children) has landed a recurring role in the new true crime series Truth Be Told, and it's chock-full of major television stars.
Based on the novel Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barner and produced for Apple TV+, the series follows Octavia Spencer as true crime podcaster Poppy Parnell, who is called to investigate the case of convicted serial killer Warren Cave (Aaron Paul), a man she incriminated after he murdered the father of two identical twins. Over time, Parnell must decide where the lines between guilty and innocent lie when Cave confesses to the fact that he was framed for the crime.
Lizzie Caplan is set to play Josie and Lanie Burhman, the twin sisters whose father was allegedly murdered by Warren Cave; Elizabeth Perkins will star as Melanie Cave, Warren's mother; Michael Beach (ex-Aaron Stansfield, Dynasty) is set to play Ingram Rhoades, Poppy's husband; Mekhi Phifer will play Markus Knox, a former detective and longtime friend of Poppy; Tracie Thoms stars as Desiree Scoville, Poppy's older sister; Haneefah Wood will play Cydie Scoville, Poppy's younger sister; and Ron Cephas Jones is set to play Leander "Shreve" Scoville, Poppy's father.
Recurring cast members include Miller in the role of Lanie's husband, Alex Dunn; Tami Roman as Lillian Scoville, Poppy's stepmother; Rico E. Anderson as Herbie, who manages the biker bar; Nic Bishop as Chuck Buhrman, Josie and Lanie's father; Annabella Sciorra as Erin Buhrman, Josie and Lanie's mother; Molly Hagan as Susan Carver, Josie and Lanie's aunt; Everleigh McDonell as Ella Dunn, Lanie's daughter; Brett Cullen (ex-Dan Fixx, Falcon Crest) as Owen Cave, Warren's father; and Katherine LaNasa as Noa Havilland, the producer of Poppy's podcast.
Truth Be Told, which is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on December 6, 2019, was created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman, who is also set to executive produce and write for the show.
Other executive producers include Octavia Spencer via her Orit Entertainment, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for their company Hello Sunshine, and Peter Cernin, Jenno Topping, and Kristen Campo for Chernin Entertainment. Sarah Koenig, creator of the true crime podcast Serial, is on board to consult on the series.
Billy Miller won legions of soap opera fans with various daytime roles that began with playing All My Children's Richie Novak from 2007 to 2008. He followed that up with a stint as The Young and the Restless' Billy Abbott from 2008 to 2014 and the roles of General Hospital's Jason Morgan and Drew Cain from 2014 to 2019.
