Heidi Montag took to social media to mourn the loss of her abode to the Los Angeles wildfires. In it, she can be seen holding her 2-year-old son, Ryker, sobbing as she chants,
"It really just comes in waves but I just wanna go home. I just wanna see all my stuff and sit on my couch and... I just wanna go home. I feel so homesick."
The video has since gone viral, drawing varied reactions from scores online. While some users feel that Heidi Montag crying while taking a video of herself may have been a bit over the top, others are defending her, asserting that this is an acceptable way for her to cope with such a grave loss.
Here's how one user defended the actress for example:
"People giving them hate are disgusting. They are very outspoken on Newsome. Everything is not as it seems. They lost everything. Do,better"
The comments didn't end there, though. Here's what the others said:
"This check to see how she looks on camera drives me up the wall. Where was this for NC people? The ones that suffered from a real natural disaster? Not a man made one?" one user questioned.
"I'm sorry that millionaires are sad that they lost their homes. They can afford to relocate. All the normies who lost everything have no hope," another noted.
"I’m sure I’ll get killed in the comments. But this feels forced. There’s a bit in the clip where she uncovers one eye to look at the camera. Considering she’s an actress. I’d expect her to be better at faking. I also don’t believe climate change was the cause of the LA fires," yet another user speculated.
Sentiments online were visibly varied, with some users ripping the actress while others comforted her:
"Isn't she a millionaire she can rebuild no problem . How about the poor people in North Carolina that lost everything and can’t rebuild ! And only got 700 dollars from Biden," one user tweeted.
"I feel bad for her but why do people feel it necessary to record themselves crying like this. The drama and need for attention makes me less compassionate I hate to say," another opined.
"My heart goes out to Heidi Montag and all those affected by the wildfires. Losing your home is a devastating experience, but the resilience of the human spirit is powerful. Let’s support each other during these challenging times," someone else chimed in.
"Ask yourself how you would feel if you had nothing. Taken from you in an instant. The people that are judging those left homeless and devastated, remember we are all human. We all feel loss and sadness. It doesn’t matter if you have money or not," one more added.

Heidi Montag, a reality star, uploaded the clip on Wednesday, January 8. The 38-year-old lost her home, which she shares with her husband, Spencer Pratt, to the Palisades fires.
Apart from the first video, which she captioned "Missing home," Heidi Montag uploaded another video detailing her harrowing experience of fleeing a burning home with next to no belongings:
"The craziest thing when packing for a fire is that you’re brain just freaks out,” she said. “You’re like, ‘What do I need? What do I not need?’ It’s so overwhelming,” her video began. “Packing up the house, I mean I only have two pairs of jeans, two shirts, I’ve got so much more clothes for the kids, but why didn’t I grab more?"
Heidi Montag, who shares 7-year-old Gunner with her husband, revealed that she managed to flee with two pairs of pants and two shirts.
“I got so much more clothes for the kids,” she continued, noting that “the main thing is that we’re safe and got out. A part of you just wants to leave stuff and thinking like, ‘I’m coming back. You know, 'of course I’m coming back.' Just praying for everybody else who’s going through this and all my friends and loved ones,” she added. “Just thank God we have our health and our children and I know that, just trying to focus on the gratitude.”
Heidi Montag reiterated that "It just kinda comes in waves," before she added that "God uses everything for good. I don’t know how or why or anything but I do know God uses everything for good.”
At the time of writing, well over 120,000 people are dubbed evacuees as they have been pushed out of their homes. Other celebrities who have lost their homes include Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, and Paris Hilton.
