Miguel Vivanco, a popular Mexican YouTuber better known as El Jasper, was reportedly found dead on a dirt road near the El Quemadito ejido on November 23, 2024, two days after he was reported missing.
According to Spanish-speaking news cited in multiple reports, 29-year-old Vivanco was shot at least 70 times when he was found by his relatives handcuffed and eyes taped shut on the dirt road, which connects the La 20 highway with the Culiacán-El Dorado road. Videos circulating online showed a blindfolded victim lying on the ground.
Vivanco, aka El Jasper, originally from Culiacán, rose to online prominence after appearing in videos with his friend and partner Markitos Toys, another popular Mexican influencer with 5 million followers on Instagram. Toys, whose real name is Marcos Eduardo Castro, is linked to a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, Los Chapitos. Miguel Vivanco aka El Jasper, was also allegedly linked to Los Chapitos.

While it is unclear who was involved in YouTuber Miguel Vivanco, aka El Jasper’s murder, his family told Spanish outlets shortly before his disappearance that a group of hitmen had forced their way into his home, located in Sinaloa, on November 21, 2024.
In September 2024, the Mexican Office of Control of Foreign Assets (OFAC) added the Youtuber to its list of sanctioned people in illegal drug crackdowns.
Multiple reports accused Miguel Vivanco, aka El Jasper’s, friend Marquitos Toys of profiting from the criminal group by trafficking illicit substances. However, recently, Toys denied the accusation in a string of Instagram stories stating his wealth was amassed through his work on the internet.
Toys, who also shared a close friendship with the head of security for Los Chapitos Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, aka "El Nini," defended their friendship, stating it was a personal relationship. He further noted he did not have any ties to the criminal group. In a part of the video, he said:
“For all those who are frustrated, envious, surprised because Markitos Toys has made money these last few years... If you are surprised because I have bought cars, houses, because I have led a better life, I have something to tell you: get to work and you will be able to do it.”
Cristo Rich, another Mexican content creator, shared an emotional tribute to Miguel Vivanco on Instagram, writing:

Markitos Toys has not commented on Vivanco, aka El Jasper’s, death.
