Porch pirates have been increasing daily and doing business for billions in one year. However, where does this term come from and what does it mean? As the name suggests, they are thieves who steal packages delivered to people on their house's porch.

According to security.org, this stealing business has caused many losses to people ordering things online. Last year, a total of goods stolen by these pirates cost about $12 billion.

Recently, two such pirates stole some packages from the porch of a New Jersey resident, put up a show by twerking, and fled the area. However, it did not turn out well for those thieves as they returned some of the many items two days later.

According to the Gloucester Township Police's YouTube video, the incident took place on December 9, when two porch pirates stole couriers from a house in the new Independence Square Townhomes in Gloucester Township. They grabbed some Amazon packages and fled after one of them twerked. As their act was caught on the victim's ring camera, they posted it on the Ring Neighborhood app to alert everyone.

The police department wrote,

"Suspect 1 grabbed an Amazon package containing four glasses and baby items valued at $74. Suspect 2 also ran up to the front door, and began taunting the victim on their camera by 'twerking,' then both suspects fled the area. The victim then posted the video on the Ring Neighbors app to help warn the surrounding residents."

Why did the porch pirates return?

The porch pirates seemingly got upset after seeing their video online. Therefore, two days later, they returned to the house. The one who twerked wore a hoodie and covered his face while showing the video posted online to the camera. He said,

"Come on dude, not cool bro, come on not cool... that's my a** on the internet!"

He then ran across the street only to return with one of the stolen items. He placed a broken glass on the doorstep, said, "Uh, I meant to give this back," and then fled again.

The Gloucester Town Police also zoomed in on one of the porch pirates to identify him. There are only a few cases in which these thieves are caught. Therefore, the police have urged anyone who can identify the suspect to notify them.
