When was Wendy Rose last seen? Missing Ohio hiker’s body believed found near Alabama state park

Wendy Rose, a hiker from Ohio, who went missing about two months ago, has been allegedly found dead. Rose went on a hiking trip in Alabama in late September and was set to return in a few days. However, the situation got concerning when she did not show up for work.

Rose was last seen in Marysville before going for a hike in Alabama.

According to 10WBNS, a dead body was found by Cleburne County Sheriff's Office officials in the area of Highway 281 near Cheaha State Park. A hunter discovered the body, per the office.

A car was also discovered in the parking lot of the Cheaha State Park. Several notes hinted to the authorities that the body was of Wendy Rose who went missing in September. However, some things in the car seemed abnormal for Wendy. The car had a magazine and a box of ammunition from which several rounds were missing.

The sheriff's office also released a statement via Facebook.

"On Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at approximately 11:30 am the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the area of Highway 281 approximately 5 miles northeast of the Cheaha State Park in reference to a deceased subject being located by a Hunter."

"Upon notification of family, with the assistance of the Cleburne County Coroners Office, Coroner Adam Downs, we have evidence to believe that the deceased subject is the missing person from October of this year, Vendula Wendy Rose," the statement read.

"We ask that you please continue to remember this family in your prayers."

What happened to Wendy Rose?

The sheriff's office did not suspect foul play as there was no evidence enough for the same. They also believe Wendy Rose was suffering from a mental health crisis. The sheriff's office did not share the cause of Rose's death. Moreover, they will conduct a press conference on Monday to share more information about the case.
