Today is National Whiner’s Day, and moments after the news broke out on X, users began reacting with a litany of jokes, memes, and cutthroat remarks. Some have begun joking at the expense of "Karens," a hated figure worldwide, while others have targeted celebrities for jokingly getting a day all to themselves.

Fans of Beyonce, LeBron, and Drake have all been the subject of these jokes while some netizens used the opportunity to defend their favorite artists. Nonetheless, here's how one user reacted:

"all the karens rise in power for the day."

The chatter didn't end there, as the internet did what it normally does, and roped in all the big names as the punchline of the joke:

"They make a day for Beyonce haters," someone jokingly suggested.
"I celebrate all the time," another humorously chimed in.
"But LeBron played yesterday," one user quipped.
"It is and I am not happy about it," one added, sarcastically.

More and more chimed in with their jokes:

"swifties come get y'all juice," someone called out.
"All Nicki haters will be participating," another claimed.
"BIG DAY FOR DRAKE FANS," one more added.

On the face of it, users quickly took the chance to troll anyone and everyone.

"Karen": Its origin, meaning, and its male counterpart

For those wondering, here is Dictionary.com's definition of a Karen:

"Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, and entitled middle-aged woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people’s behaviors. As featured in memes, Karen is generally stereotyped as having a blonde bob haircut, asking to speak to retail and restaurant managers to voice complaints or make demands, and being an anti-vaxx , Generation X soccer mom. Since 2020, Karen has spread as a label used to call out people who were captured in viral videos engaging in displays of public outrage, especially in relation to race."

Know Your Meme first added the word as an extension of the "Can I speak to the manager' haircut" meme back in 2019. Per The Guardian, the meme seems to stem from a dialogue from the 2004 film Mean Girls, where one character says fumingly:

"Oh my God, Karen, you can’t just ask someone why they’re white."

As for its male counterpart, it seems to be Kyle who, as reported by the outlet, refers to "an angry, aggressive white teenage boy, characterized by his penchant for Monster energy drinks, Axe body spray, and punching drywall."

Nonetheless, "Karen" is, by far, much more popular than "Kyle."

As for National Whiner's Day, it falls annually on the day just after Christmas, December 26.
