Emily Browning, Lukas Gage and Drake Rodger join the new ‘Prison Break’ series, fans roast: "No creativity left in Hollyweird"

Hulu has gone ahead and pushed the patience of fans by announcing a Prison Break reboot. Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, and Drake Rodger will be playing the series regulars this time around, with Elgin James (Mayans M.C., The Outlaws) directing. The show will have a new spin but will remain in the same universe as the original series.

But while Hulu is busy hyping its new iteration, the internet is already in full-blown hysteria.

After a string of recent disappointing TV reboots, fans aren't necessarily optimistic. Instead of excitement, they are lamenting that yet another old favorite is going to be totally destroyed.

As expected, the jokes soon started pouring in. Fans are obsessed with one big question: Who even asked for another Prison Break?

Cast and characters in the new Prison Break series

Emily Browning as Cassidy Collins

Emily Browning, who has been seen in American Gods and Sucker Punch, will play Cassidy Collins, an ex-soldier turned corrections officer at one of America's most violent prisons.

Lukas Gage as Jackson

Lukas Gage, a familiar face with Euphoria and The White Lotus, will be portraying Jackson, a rich kid politician and first-time congressional candidate.

Drake Rodger as Tommy Drake

Rodger, most recently seen in The Winchesters, will portray Tommy, an inmate who spent the past ten years incarcerated in one of the most dangerous prisons.

In addition, Elgin James will serve as a writer and executive producer, with original Prison Break series executive producers Dawn Olmstead, Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz.

Background of the original Prison Break series

The OG Prison Break series by Paul Scheuring premiered on August 29, 2005, and ran for five seasons until its conclusion in 2017. The series is about two brothers, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller).

Lincoln is falsely accused of murdering Terrence Steadman, the brother of the Vice President, and is sentenced to death. Michael is a brilliant structural engineer who devises a clever plan to escape from his brother at the Fox River State Penitentiary.

To accomplish this, Michael commits a crime to end up in the same prison, where he uses his familiarity with the design of the prison to plot an escape.
