The developer Respawn Entertainment discontinued work on their undisclosed multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) project. Eager fans expressed their dissatisfaction about this news, which broke their hopes for new content from the studio, including possible Titanfall expansion.

Naturally, users didn’t hold back—memes and rants filled the timeline.

Cancellation announcement of FPS project
The cancellation news was shared by Emilee Evans, a former Respawn Production Coordinator, in a now-deleted LinkedIn post, as per Dexerto.
Evans stated that she had been working on the unannounced incubation project for the last year, which was canceled recently, and therefore decided to look for new gaming industry opportunities.
"The unannounced incubation project I was a part of for the past year was canceled this week."
Impact on the gaming community
The cancellation of this project is a major disappointment for Respawn Entertainment fans, especially those who have been eagerly awaiting a new Titanfall game.
The Titanfall franchise has been praised for its groundbreaking mechanics and addictive multiplayer gameplay, but since Titanfall 2 appeared in 2016, the franchise has not revealed any new official mainline entries.
The team-based gameplay that was maintained in Apex Legends respects the core Titanfall design, but developers still receive frequent requests for Titanfall-specific lease or extension content.
Background and development

Multiple developers with experience in multiplayer FPS games joined the incubation team of Respawn Entertainment during the preceding few years before the project cancellation.
The developing project invoked rumors that it was developing either within the Titanfall universe or an entirely new intellectual property (IP).
The unannounced project maintained at least twelve months of development time until it was discontinued.
Past cancellations and future plans
This is not the first occasion on which Respawn has scrapped a project. In previous years, EA announced significant layoffs and scrapped a Star Wars FPS title rumored to have a Mandalorian protagonist.
The practice of canceling unannounced projects is becoming increasingly prevalent in the gaming industry, with multiple major studios having faced a similar dilemma over recent months.
The project was postponed, but Respawn Studios continues its Apex Legends focus by developing the substantial "Apex 2.0" upgrade for future release.
The studio continues working on the next installment of the Star Wars Jedi game as the finale of the series, per Game Spot.
