Nicole Kidman is afraid she'll become the target of another wave of memes...again. The A-lister told the Hollywood Reporter that she is anticipating her upcoming movie, Babygirl, to get on the receiving end of mockery and lighthearted criticism, even.

During the interview, the 57-year-old actress covered her face with her hands, shying away, when asked about the more intimate details while shooting the film.

“I blush, still! That’s insane,” Kidman said for the Wednesday article. “But that’s a good thing, I suppose. I’m very interested in exploring those things, but I’m not that extroverted. I was so in character. To pull the curtain back on all of it, it’s too sacred.”

Nicole Kidman is perhaps most widely known in the meme world for what is widely considered to be a joyous moment in her life. In the infamous meme, she can be seen ecstatically strutting down the road, hands in the air, as she celebrates her post-divorce victory from ex-husband Tom Cruise. Notably, she has since denied the claims, asserting that the image was straight out of a film shoot.

She was asked if she thought it a compliment to become the face of a meme, to which she said:

“Of course. You’ve got to let go and be able to make fun of yourself. It’s very much an Australian trait, but I think it’s a necessary trait for life. I know who I am. I try to stay deeply focused on my authentic self and stay with that. Everything else is beyond my control.”

She went on:

"But let’s wait and see what happens with the [memes from] ‘Babygirl.’ I may be terribly upset the next time you talk to me.”

As for the film itself, it has been commended for its portrayal of intimacy, which Nicole Kidman called the “most dangerous part” of the film. “It wasn’t written for a 20-year-old. It wasn’t written even for a 30-year-old,” Kidman said.

As for how she feels about being vulnerable in front of the camera, she noted that it still makes her blush, before adding:

"That’s probably why we constantly say we need women in all areas of filmmaking, telling different stories. It’s not just to be more fair. It’s actually because it’s kind of fascinating. And for people to feel, ‘I can be who I am.’ I want people to go see this in the cinema, not just clicking on this at home, secretly, watching it in their own little secret way. There’s something extraordinary about seeing it with a group of people.”

Nicole Kidman also revealed that she is aware that the term "babygirl" is now used to endearingly, or sometimes sarcastically, describe men.
