SZA has rolled out her very own beauty brand called Not Beauty. The line will begin with a collection of lip gloss, which will roll out on the heels of her and Kendrick Lamar's Grand National Tour. It will be exclusive to pop-up stores throughout the U.S. (at least for now).
Speaking to Vogue, SZA said:
"Not Beauty wasn’t about me trying to enter the beauty market, it’s about me filling a need, it’s about me needing something that lasted as long as my show, as long as my conversation, as long as my date."
SZA's new beauty line will begin with three shades of lip gloss, Billboard reports. The first is 'In The Flesh', a pinkish-nude shade natural in color. The second is Strawberry Jelly, a bright berry red. The third is Quartz, a clear one.
The lipglosses will retail for $23.
Good for SZA, but the fact that every celebrity is starting their own beauty company is too much for social media users to handle. Since the quantity of products has outpaced the number of customers, users predict that each celebrity will eventually use their own brand products, and that will be it.
Some fans are making jokes about celebrities doing anything except staying in their zone. Instead of a lip gloss, fans want SZA to release music.
Some fans even went so far as to compare her to Rihanna, stating that she will now concentrate on the business and refrain from releasing any songs.
SZA unveils Not Beauty line, and the internet has jokes for days
Individuals on the internet are actually discussing the name of SZA's new brand. Some users are jokingly criticizing it, stating that there are already enough brands with the word "beauty" in the name, and we don't need another one.
One individual joked that the name Not Beauty doesn't fit SZA at all because she is beautiful. Others are simply scratching their heads and wondering what the marketing team behind the brand was thinking.
A user asked:
"rem beauty, rare beauty, not beauty what’s next 😭😭😭"
Serving a rizz, a user @Anastasiaxoluvv said:
"SZA launching a beauty brand called Not Beauty while serving the most undeniable beauty? That’s the kind of irony only legends pull off."
A user @OmarSpahi mentioned:
"But it is a beauty brand? I’m confused why is marketing always confusing?"
Some individuals on the internet claim there are more beauty brands than customers now. Others are making light of the fact that SZA is following Rihanna's lead—launching a beauty line and maybe never recording an album again.
A user @cryptobaddie1 went on to say:
"Bruhhh the number of brands have surpassed the number of consumers."
Another user @KehlaniRicoStan added:
"Damn she goin the rihanna route. No more music huh. 😭😭😭"
One user @mascarayde declared:
"Well we’re never getting an album again! 😭"
Some of the users are asking why there are so many celebrities obsessing over having beauty brands. In contrast, other users kid that if the 35-year-old earns a lot of money from her beauty brand, then we may never hear her songs again.
They're essentially stating that the beauty brand should collapse so she could return to music.
A user @livelaughhoes stated:
"The Pop-star to makeup brand owner pipeline needs to be studied… there’s nothing else in the box to pick from?? Lingerie, heels, anything???"
A user @truestann quipped:
"beauty industry, please stop taking away artists from us."
Meanwhile, a user @fixinonyou speculated:
"Y'all it's a trap. If we make her enough cash from this she'll never drop again."
Not Beauty is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, and Sephora Clean Beauty approved, free of harmful chemicals like sulfates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances.
Soon, the Kill Bill singer will find an opportunity to take the "Not" brand into other categories outside of beauty, like home products and farming.
