Films and other art produced by AI are making news lately—especially when there are talks that some Oscar-nominated films used AI to further add advanced technology to the said films.
An X user recently posted a satire tweet about Wicked being the only film at the Oscars that did not use an AI and hilarity ensued when someone bravely replied, contradicting the satire tweet's claims. (Image via X/@jordynceleste)
Others poked fun and sarcastically replied that the animals on Wicked are true and the Wicked production, indeed, has found Dr. Dillamond—in the form of a real-life talking goat. (Image via X/@HitsAndCharts)
"It’s not AI. Also, I have a pet goat that can speak fluent English. It’s not unheard of to have a goat teaching a class so idk what they’re lying about." - one user said
"Mind you my goat was just singing defying gravity with me so now what." - another user replied
"His name is Dr. Dillamond, do not disrespect the GOAT, and yes he's real." - an X user added
"Wdym my goat at home doing my laundry rn???" - another one shared
While some fans are concerned about the cluelessness of some X users about the use of CGI during filmmaking.
"How do they think we made jurassic park?" - one user asked
"Do people not realise that cgi and ai are 2 completely different things?" - another user inquired
"Cgi is actually really hard to do and something that has people working hours behind, AI doesn’t." - an X user shared
"They way they don’t know the difference from cgi and ai is scary." - another X user noted
Fans also gave a piece of advice to people that are pissed at the clueless X users: They should just ignore the hot take since it's rage bait-y. (Image via X/@royal_bobby24)
X users also suggest opening schools and using their brains since people these days don't know the difference between AI and CGI. (Image via X/@hemehna, @SwordOfSunlight)
Fans also trolled the reply who doesn't know the difference between AI and CGI.
"Say you don't understand anything about cinema without saying you don't understand anything about cinema." - an X user remarked
The difference between AI and CGI
Since y'all are still confused about the difference between AI CGI, we'll help you distinguish the two from one another!
According to an article from heartofhollywoodmagazine, the writer Joseph Patrick Fair differentiates the two:
"AI is used in various entertainment industry aspects, including content creation, distribution, and promotion. For example, AI algorithms can analyze and predict audience preferences, allowing studios to tailor their content to specific demographics. AI can also be used to generate realistic special effects and animations or to create personalized recommendations for streaming platforms."
"CGI, which refers to the use of computers to develop authentic 3D images and special effects, has become increasingly common in film and television. CGI allows filmmakers to create realistic environments and characters that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through traditional special effects. CGI may look no different from actual."
These two, when used correctly can revolutionize filmmaking without making humans lose their work—especially in the filmmaking industry where advanced technologies are very much embraced.
Technological advancements in filmmaking are okay, but just make sure that filmmakers don't rely on AI advancements especially if they're creating stories that are truthful and realistic.
That's all, folks!
