If you missed the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar saga, catch up now. The word beef has only been used correctly by two kinds of people; hip-hop artists and those who created the smash burgers. While the latter is another story altogether, let's focus on the former.

There have been instances of some epic rivalries in rap music between legendary artists, with a few high profile examples being Biggie vs. Pac, 50 Cent vs. Kanye West, 50 Cent vs. Ja Rule, or Jay Z vs. Nas. Besides being rough, unhinged and iconic, these rap beefs have given us some of these artists' best music.

A timeline of Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar

The latest beef to join the legendary ranks recently has been Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar. What started as a simple exchange of power slaps of diss track over a decade ago snowballed into a cage match earlier this year when J. Cole released the song "First Person Shooter." In the song, J. Cole claims that he, Lamar and Drake were the only top rappers today. Lamar disagreed. He released the song "Like That" and dissed Cole and Drake saying he was the only top rapper today. Drake disagreed.

J. Cole left the battlefield here after releasing and later removing the diss track "7 Minute Drill" on Kendrick Lamar, but Drake was just getting started. Thus, began a deadly badminton match with awesome diss tracks thrown at one another. Drake dissed Lamar in April with singles "Push Ups" and "Taylor Made Freestyle" and literally within days Lamar responded.

Lamar released "Euphoria" on April 30 and "6:16 in LA" on May 3. On the same day, Drake came out with "Family Matters" where he accused Lamar of being a domestic abuser and alleged that one of his kids was fathered by Lamar's associate Dave Free. Hours later, Kendrick Lamar took the beef to another level by releasing the mother of all diss tracks "Meet the Grahams" accusing Drake of sex trafficking and having a secret second child.

He also released a second diss track "Not Like Us" the next day and the allegations got more serious. He accused Drake of paedophilia and disrespecting hip-hop. Drake responded with "The Heart Part 6" and denied all the allegations against him. The feud finally ended in November 2024, when things got out of control and out of the recording studio. Drake filed two lawsuits against his record label for not halting the release and instead artificially inflating the popularity of Lamar's song "Not Like Us".

The rappers burned each other with serious allegations and the only winner was us who got to listen to some iconic music and enjoy some great memes.
