Casio celebrates its 50th anniversary with a new release, the Casio Ring watch. The ring will be released and available for purchase on the Casio website. Although the exact date of the release is uncertain, we know that it is happening in the last month of 2024.
The ring is set to retail at $120 and will be available in only one color for now.
The history and technology behind the Casio Ring watch
Ring watches are not something new, they have existed since the 1750s but received recognition around the 1900s. What is so significant about this watch, you ask?
Casio has shrunk one of their most notable designs into the size of a ring, and a fully functional watch ring at that too. This was no easy feat and a lot of modern technology was involved.
The frame of the watch was designed using a special method of metal processing. This procedure involved injecting a mixture of fine metal powders and resin into a mold. To do this, the case, case back, and ring were molded into one piece.
To attach the mineral glass, a special glass adhesive technique was used. Casio flaunts the fact that this watch is waterproof making it easy to wash your hands without the hassle of taking it off.
For now, Casio has announced that the ring is not available for all sizes. Three ring sizes would fit the watch. It fits a size 22, with two size-adjusting spacers: 19 and 16 sizes.
Casio Ring watch: Features
The case and bezel of the watch are made of stainless steel and the case is 25.2 × 19.5 × 6.2 mm in dimension. The glass of the watch is made out of mineral glass which makes it water resistant.
The watch has a 7-segment LCD that does not only show the time. It is also designed to feature a dual clock, a stopwatch, a calendar, and an alarm clock. All of these can be accessed by three small buttons on the sides of the watch.
