Wendy's quick development began in 1969 when the fast-food business expanded from a single drive-thru window to the inauguration of its 1000th outlet in 1978. About Wendy's

While it began as a basic drive-thru window in 1969, things changed quickly due to the popularity of its hamburgers. So much so that by 1978, the firm had launched its 1000th location before becoming public a year later, while also purchasing and selling additional fast-food franchises. That includes a Tim Hortons, Sisters Chicken and Biscuits, and a few more during that time.

The business expanded successfully into the 2000s, and the parent company, Wendy's International, was acquired by Triarc Companies in 2008. The merger was formally finalized in September of the same year, with the name changing to Wendy's/Arby's Group, Inc., marking a change in leadership for both Arby's and Wendy's.

As of 2024, it has approximately 7000 sites worldwide, including Germany, India, Jamaica, and Japan, among others. Not only that, but the firm said that they already have plans to expand, with restaurants slated to open in the Republic of Ireland and Romania.
