While the caloric content varies due to various reasons, a Domino's pizza slice ranges from between 200 to 410 calories.

Founded in 1960, Domino's was created after two brothers, Tom and Jim Monaghan, took over the operations of an existing pizza company. Things only snowballed from there as the chain grew rapidly and by 1978, Domino's had over 200 stores across the USA. By 1983, the company had started expanding internationally, opening a store in Canada just before opening its 1000th store in Washington. As of 2025, the fast-food franchise has over 15,000 locations across the world as it continues to evolve and grow as a brand.

How many calories are in a Domino's pizza slice?

Unfortunately, calculating the exact number of calories in a Domino's pizza slice is tough because it varies depending on the size, crust type, and toppings of the pizza. Thus, as per Domino's own Cal-O-Meter, over 34 million possible pizza combinations further complicate things.

However, a Domino's pizza slice ranges from 200 calories to 410 calories when it comes to specialty pizzas. Thus, the large MeatZZA is at the higher end while the Cheese pizza is at the lower end. This can vary, however, depending on the additional toppings and other add-ons that customers decide to put on their pizza.

About Domino’s

Domino’s began after Tom Monaghan and his brother, Jim, bought a local pizza parlor in Michigan in 1960 but Joe quickly left the business and traded his half back to his brother. However, Tom continued to expand and improve and five years later, he bought two more outlets. He even changed the name in the same year to Domino’s and while he had other plans for the logo, by 1967 the company started franchising.

This led to rapid growth, so much so that by 1978, they had over 200 outlets in America alone and were still growing rapidly. By 1983, the company had started expanding internationally, and by 2014, it had over 6,000 stores worldwide. A large chunk of that, in the present day, resides in India with over 1000 stores, making it the country with the largest number of Domino’s stores outside the USA.

All this came after Monaghan sold 93% of his shares in the company in 1998 for around $1 billion and announced his retirement. It is currently featured on the NYSE stock exchange.
