It has been more than a decade since Algernon Cadwallader released a new studio album. In 2025, the emo band is officially making a full-fledged return.
The Bucks County, Pennsylvania-based group has officially announced their third LP, Trying Not to Have a Thought, which is slated to be released on September 12, 2025, via Saddle Creek. Alongside the release, the band will kick off a 30-date North American tour in November 2025.
Algernon Cadwallader was formed in 2005. The group became a significant act for the 2010s emo revival movement. Their beloved albums, Some Kind of Cadwallader (2008) and Parrot Flies (2011), made them underground favorites before the band broke up in 2012. They reunited in 2022 for a series of live shows.
Algernon Cadwallader shared the album and tour announcement via an official Instagram post, which read:

Algernon Cadwallader's upcoming new record brings back the band's original lineup, vocalist/bassist Peter Helmis, guitarists Joe Reinhart and Colin Mahony, and drummer Nick Tazza, for the first time since their debut. Trying Not to Have a Thought's first single, Hawk, is already streaming with a music video directed by Darby Irrgang and Ricky Christian.
