Parkway Drive, one of Australia's prominent metalcore bands, is claiming back the spotlight with their latest single after a three-year hiatus. The band released Sacred on May 8, 2025, and the track is a reflection of the band's experience with the genre in the past, as well as hints of what the future might entail. The Sacred music video is also out now on various streaming platforms.
Parkway Drive is a five-member band with Winston McCall as the lead vocalist, Jeff Ling on lead guitar, Luke "Pig" Kilpatrick on rhythm guitar, Ben "Gaz" Gordon on bass, and Ben "Gaz" Gordon on drums.
Lead vocalist Winston McCall gave more insight into their newest single in a statement. He said:
"The mission statement for 'Sacred' is pretty damn simple. An anthemic wrecking ball of positive energy. Our lives and the way we exist in the world has been pushed further and further through the lenses and frames of negativity and hopelessness. Obsession with everything we lack, everything we hate, everyone we blame, everything that keeps us down."
He also expressed what the song means to them. McCall added:
"We sell the unique parts of us most precious just to buy back manufactured pieces of self in order that we may feel whole again. 'Sacred' is our identity. 'Sacred' is our time. Never lose sight and never lose hope."
