Ava Max just announced the release date for her upcoming third studio album called Don't Click Play. Prior to this album, Max was promoting her second studio album, Diamonds & Dancefloors, through her On Tour (Finally) in 2023. Max accompanied the album release news with a cover art photo. Ava simply captioned the post:

"Don’t Click Play the album ▶️ August 22nd"

She also attached another post below hers, featuring Ed Sheeran's upcoming album titled Play. Ava Max's album Don't Click Play will be released on August 22nd, and Ed Sheeran's Play, which is also his eighth studio album, will be released on September 12, 2025.

Before the album release, Ava Max gave her fans a little sneak peek into her upcoming album. Last month, she posted a link to the website DontClickPlayOnAvaMax.com, which seemed like an online petition but was a teaser to her unreleased track from Don't Click Play.

More details about Ava Max's Don't Click Play album

Last year in March, she posted a sneak peek of her single My Oh My. During an interview with Billboard last year, Max said that her third album is in the works, and regarding her song My Oh My, this is what the singer had to say:

"with no heartbreak attached and no man attached...the beginning of me."

So far, Max has released Spot a Fake and Lost Your Faith. When the former was released, she mentioned that it would be the lead single of her third album. However, after Lost Your Faith's release on February 7, 2025, the previous song was deleted from the album. She also released a music video for Lost Your Faith on March 18, 2025.

What did fans think of Ava Max's new album release announcement?

Ava Max's post included cover art featuring her inside a flaming triangle, which is also a "play" symbol.

This is what fans had to say:

A user commented:

"I love you but did no one consider Doritos?" - @iamsikora asked.

Other users also mentioned how Max used Sheeran's announcement to reveal her release date. The comments read:

"So you've decided to piggyback onto someone else's success and put an announcement on their announcement? Whatever happened to authenticity???" - @Lpool_5843 commented.
"GIRL WHY DID YOU RATIO ED SHEERAN IM CTFU" - @ineedtoforget13 added.

Those who are curious about the album commented:

"do we know any songs that are already part of the album?" - @dirtyyicecream asked.

One netizen also commented that Max's cover art was not a job well done. They wrote:

"Ava I love you but damn!! fire that editor behind that pic! your face looks cropped from another angle and slapped into that body, even the hairline doesn’t match with your face tilt" - @Gagasdivaa said.

A fan expressed their enthusiasm and wrote:

"I'm so excited omg 😭!!!" - @Walker92385 declared.

Ava Max's announcement evoked a mix of excitement and curiosity from netizens. Fans questioned why Max made the announcement side-by-side with Ed Sheeran's upcoming album, Play. The Maybe You're The Problem singer has not responded to these questions.
