Jeremy Allen White is set to play the lead in the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, and expectations are high for the Shameless actor. The musical drama follows the life of Springsteen, a singer, songwriter, and guitarist widely regarded as one of the leading figures in rock and roll.
The trailer for the musical drama, which dropped on June 18, 2025, sees Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen as he creates his Nebraska album in the early 1990s. The snippet introduces the viewer to a stellar cast consisting of White, Jeremy Strong, Odessa Young, Stephen Graham, and Johnny Cannizzaro, amongst others.
Warren Zanes, whose 2023 book inspired the movie, has promised fans that Deliver Me From Nowhere will be different from other biopics because it tells the story of Springsteen’s challenges in the middle of fame and not before.
Zanes added:
“It’s a story about family history, mental health, and an already-successful artist facing a crisis,” he says. “There’s nothing about him making it. No ‘Born to Run’ moment. None of that. We see what he’s haunted by.”
“He’s just done a great job,” Bruce Springsteen praises Jeremy Allen White’s performance in Deliver Me From Nowhere
On SiriusXM’s E Street Radio show, the 75-year-old musical icon praised Jeremy Allen White, who will portray him in the upcoming biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere. Springsteen stated that the two-time Golden Globe awardee interpreted his character impressively:
"And Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it. He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize. He’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.”
Springsteen also spoke positively about White’s singing voice and the ensemble cast.
In an August 2024 interview with GQ, White expressed that he had a large amount of material to work with in his preparation for the role:
"There’s just so much footage. It’s really great to go down a YouTube rabbit hole and find him at all these different periods in his life and be able to listen to his speaking voice as well as his singing voice. That’s kind of been the deal, just listening to him a lot and watching him a lot. It’s been really fun preparing.”
The 34-year-old actor was also grateful to the team of talents that worked with him to improve his portrayal of the character. Jeremy Allen White also described Springsteen as being supportive of the film and “the greatest guy.”
