Quincy, Massachusetts, will be 400 years old in August 2025, and the town is gearing up to celebrate this milestone. Amongst the yearlong celebratory activities are performances by musical legends Darius Rucker and John Fogerty.
Three-time Grammy-winning Rucker, of Hootie & the Blowfish fame, and John Fogerty of the Creedence Clearwater Revival Swamp Rock band are set to headline two separate events at the Veterans Memorial Stadium on August 2 and 3, 2025. Hearty Har will open for Fogerty.
A statement from the organizers of the event promises a historic night witnessed by thousands who will celebrate the rich history of the ancient town:
“It is set to be the biggest music weekend in Quincy’s 400-year history as thousands will fill Veterans Memorial Stadium to see two musical icons celebrate the city’s rich history, diversity, culture, people and ideas that have shaped America,”
Darius Rucker’s voice gives out during a concert
Darius Rucker abruptly ended his performance in New Jersey on July 15, 2025, after he reportedly lost his voice. The country music singer paused after performing a few songs and informed the crowd that the show could not continue:
"Y'all, I can't sing anymore, he said.
He promised the attendees that he would perform one of his tracks before calling it a night. Rucker added that the concert fees would be reimbursed.
"I'm going to play one more song. I promise you, we are going to figure this out. You're going to get your money back."
In a video shared by a fan, the singer explained that it was a new experience for him, losing his voice, adding that he would make it up to his fans.
"I just can't sing. I've never done this before," Rucker added. "This never happened. I physically can't sing, and I promise you on everything that I stand for, I will make this up to you."
The singer played Wagon Wheel for the fans before exiting the stage. He posted on Instagram apologizing for disappointing his fans and promising a full refund.
Tickets to Darius Rucker’s Quincy 400 show are sold out. Fans can still purchase tickets for Fogerty’s on Quincy400.com. Celebrations for the anniversary include an immersive exhibit experience, lectures from bestselling authors, and family events.
