Deftones's upcoming album, Private Music, will be released on August 22, 2025. Their tenth studio album, it is their first release since 2020's Ohms. The band recently talked about their upcoming album in an exclusive interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe that was released on July 11, 2025. Band member Chino Moreno elaborated on the writing process for the album, stating:

“It’s obviously work to make, I mean, to create… But it definitely should be enjoyable, right?… I’ve made a couple records where it wasn’t as enjoyable as this record… Whereas this record, to me, was just like having those breaks in-between… Leaving the studio that day was something that didn’t exist before we walked in there.”

The singer continued:

"Whereas this record, to me, was just like having those breaks in-between and when we got together, it was just like this, this is the fun part, right? Leaving the studio that day was something that didn’t exist before we walked in there. I think that not having this set thing that we have to stick to, kind of makes it more fun, really.”

The singer later revealed the origins of the album title, stating:

“The simplest answer for that would be that was a folder on my desktop while we were working on these songs and where I put stuff at. Obviously I like the kind of the exclusivity of the of the name, whatever it makes you feel. [It’s] very personal, I guess maybe restricted, maybe naughty. It has all these connotations to it I guess. Very private, in a way.”

Deftones are a band from Sacremento, California and currently consists of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, Frank Delgado, and Fred Sablan. The band is known for albums like White Pony.
