Karma Chameleon might be a huge hit, but the singer Boy George is tired of performing it. The 64-year-old musician appeared on the August 29, 2025, episode of the new Apple TV series KPOPPED.

He performed the 1983 hit alongside K-pop group STAYC and revealed in a New York Post interview that he disliked singing Karma Chameleon because most people thought it was his only hit. He added that he had initially refused to honor Apple TV’s invitation.

"People think that’s all I’ve ever done. I have to say that when they first picked that song, I said, ‘Oh absolutely not.'"

Boy George added that he wasn't thrilled about singing the megahit track and compared singing it to diarrhea:

"I wasn’t exactly excited by doing ‘Karma Chameleon.’ It was just, ‘Oh f--- off, that again.’ I’m being honest. That’s the truth. I was like, ‘What the f – – k?’ And in fact, the first phone call that we had with Apple, I went off. I was like, ‘I’m not doing this. You can imagine singing 'Karma Chameleon' for me. It’s like f------ diarrhea through a wet sock. It’s about as exciting as nothing I can explain."

“I was so happy I’d done it,” Boy George says he doesn't regret taking the opportunity to perform Karma Chameleon in the new Apple TV show

After Boy George accepted the invitation from KPOPPED to perform Karma Chameleon with K-pop group STAYC, he had to travel to South Korea to film the episode.

He revealed in his New York Post interview that he was grateful that he seized the opportunity to experience the new culture:

"I was like, ‘You know what? I quite fancy going to South Korea,'" he recalled. "It doesn’t really matter what I’m doing. It was actually the adventure of going there in the end. I just loved it. I was so happy I’d done it."

An exclusive clip from the fifth episode of KPOPPED shows Boy George and STAYC visiting the Suguksa Temple. Boy George expressed his excitement about visiting a historic Seoul, Korea landmark.

KPOPPED launched on August 29, 2025, and will see Western artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Mel B and Ava Max collaborate with K-pop counterparts like STAYC, ATEEZ and Blackswan.
