Cardi B released her latest studio album, Am I The Drama?, on September 19, 2025.

The singer's album was preceded by weeks of promotion by the singer, who did interviews with publications and media like CBS Mornings, arranged subway pop up cd sales as well as another one in New York City that went viral, among other things.

The album promotion was successful, and fans have previously praised the singer for it. Now the level of promotion has caught the attention of DJ Akademiks, who took to his official X page to state that he wishes Cardi B to do well in the first week of her album release for the same reason:

"I want Cardi B to do well first week not only cuz I fw her but because it’s the first time in years we’ve seen a big artist not act Hollywood and go out their way to put promotion behind their music. Everyone nowadays 2 cool to promote or do every outlet and get every look to win."

DJ Akademiks's comment has garnered some reactions from fans, as exemplifed by the tweets quoted below:

"Bruh, she put WAP and UP on the album. Of course it was gonna perform good LMAO. That sh*t would’ve been a good coffee table coaster if it wasn’t for the support of those two singles alone." one netizen commented.
"Literally been saying this Cardi roll out was so good she putting her all into this promo artist just drop music do a podcast or two and think that’s gon get ppl to buy just because it’s them like no that’s not how this works." another netizen commented.
"This is the one & only time I will ever agree with anything to come out of this man’s mouth." one commenter stated.
