i-dle has literally done away with the “G” in its name as part of its rebranding. The “i-dentity” trailer for the group’s upcoming album We Are, shared by its X account on May 4, 2025, shows the group members beginning a new phase.

In the video, i-dle members comprising YUQI, Minnie, Cho Mi-yeon, Yeh Shu Hua, and Jeon So-yeon are seen lounging in what appears to be a rundown building. Mi-yeon, dressed in a black trench coat, scribbles the group name on a glass window with white chalk. She finishes and joins the other members as they exit the building, but not before hurling an object, shattering the window with the “G” letter.

The trailer comes after the group’s music label, CUBE ENTERTAINMENT, stated on May 2, 2025, that the group was rebranding with a new name to commemorate its seventh anniversary.

A part of the agency’s statement read:

"(G)I-DLE has changed its name to “i-dle. “(G)I-dle will now be promoting under the new name ‘I-dle,’”

The Agency also debuted the group’s new logo, which it described as a symbol of the group’s limitless potential:

"The logo, composed of lowercase letters ‘i d l e,’ features a structural design based on the principles of points, lines, and planes, symbolising the group’s limitless potential and organic connectivity.”

The new name discards the “G” and the Korean word Yeoja, meaning female. This can be interpreted as a desire for the group to embrace a broader identity. The group’s new name is reflected on all its social media platforms.
