Guitarist Dave Navarro has ruled out any future reunion with Jane's Addiction. This follows an onstage altercation during which the frontman, Perry Farrell, punched Navarro onstage that took place in Boston last year.
The incident occurred during the band's performance on September 13, 2024. It resulted in a sudden and bitter end to their tour, which was the first to feature the original lineup in over a decade.
In a recent interview with Guitar Player magazine, Dave Navarro reflected on the group's final show as he called it his "least favorite gig" ever and declared,
"There is no chance for the band to ever play together again."
His remarks seemingly confirm that the reunion of Jane's Addiction's OG lineup, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins, has come to a definitive close.

He also talked about the incident, saying,
"it all came to a screeching halt and forever destroyed the band's life."
Dave Navarro's complete statement regarding the reservation about Jane's Addiction reunion
In the Guitar Player magazine interview, Dave Navarro stated,
"There were a couple of gigs on this last run that we did last year in Europe with Eric Avery back on bass that were some of my favorite Jane's Addiction gigs of all-time. There was no b*llsh*t: No props. No nothing onstage. No dancing, no pyro, and no gimmicks. It was just the four of us and some colored lights, and we were playing the songs, expanding on them, and getting in a kind of weird."
He also added,
"If you combined Grateful Dead and Radiohead, there were moments like that — just weird, experimental jams that we'd never done before as a band. And yet, if you were to ask me what my least favorite gig was, it would be a gig last September, on Friday the 13th, in Boston. I have to speak in broad strokes here, because there are other individuals involved, and it's still very tender and unresolved.
Talking about the incident that changed the trajectory of the group's future, Navarro said,
"There was an altercation onstage, and all the hard work and dedication and writing and hours in the studio, and picking up and leaving home and crisscrossing the country and Europe and trying to overcome my illness — it all came to a screeching halt and forever destroyed the band's life. And there is no chance for the band to ever play together again."
The incident took place on September 13, 2024, during a performance at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston. Toward the end of the set, tensions between frontman Perry Farrell and Navarro erupted publicly.
Farrell appeared to shove and punch Navarro onstage. Bassist Eric Avery and a crew member intervened as they tried to de-escalate the situation. Reports later confirmed that Farrell struck Navarro again backstage.
Dave Navarro concluded his statement, saying:
"I have to say that's my least favorite gig, without throwing animosity around, and without naming names and pointing fingers, and coming up with reasons. I'll just say that the experience prior to that gig, when we were in Europe and gelling, really, for the first time — because at our ages, in our 50s and 60s, everybody's done what they are gonna do, and we were not competitive with each other — we were getting along.
The guitarist further continued,
"There was no ego issue; it was just four guys making great music, just like we did in the beginning. I was just us on a stage, with people going fucking crazy. And that gig, September 13th, in Boston, ended all of that. And for that reason, that is my least favorite gig that I have ever played."
The incident forced the band to cancel the rest of the tour. A joint statement from Navarro, Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins mentioned Farrell's behavior and "mental health difficulties" as the main reason for calling it off.
Farrell later issued a public apology via social media. He said that,
"I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation."
Despite the apology, Dave Navarro made it clear in his Guitar Player interview that the damage was irreversible, and hence, the reunion might not be possible anymore.
With Dave Navarro's comments, one of alternative rock's most beloved bands may have played its final note.
