BTS is reuniting soon. The Bangtan Boys, a Korean boy band, consists of seven members, from oldest to youngest: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. The K-pop sensation decided to go on hiatus in 2022, after announcing that the oldest member in the group will be enlisting in the military as part of their mandatory service to the country.
Fast forward to 2025: three BTS members were discharged in June, leaving only Suga in the military. He will be discharged on June 21, 2025. Fans all over the world are excited to see the long-awaited reunion of the Bangtan Boys. But while some were still in the military, the others did not completely stop making music. Take into consideration J-Hope, who went on a worldwide concert tour and released new singles this year.
The Bangtan Boys have done an incredible job during their time in the military. They have returned not only as global superstars but as decorated soldiers now. Details about the BTS members' achievements in the military
Many may not know that the South Korean law mandates every able-bodied man to serve in the military. The age bracket when men are supposed to serve is between 18 and 28 years old. However, the oldest BTS member, Jin, bent the rules for him. The law was revised, and the age to enlist was broadened to 30 years old.

Kim Seok-jin, a.k.a. Jin
Jin enlisted in the military on December 22 and was discharged on June 11, 2024. Right after his discharge from the military, Jin went live and told his viewers that he managed to get up to eight awards and accolades. Jin said that he got the
"Army Soldier Award! I got two division commander-level awards. I got 7 to 8 battalion commander-level awards too... I worked hard in the military. I wasn't scolded because I was an ace."
Min Yoon-gi a.k.a. Suga
Suga's military duty began on September 22, 2023, and he is currently still serving his mandatory military service. Suga will be discharged on June 21, 2025. The rapper had a shoulder injury in the past, which prohibited him from joining any active duty roles. Suga serves as a public service worker.
Jung Ho-seok, a.k.a. J-Hope
After Jin, J-Hope was the second BTS member to enlist in the military. He started his service on April 18, 2023, and was discharged on October 17, 2024. He joined the Army A Division Recruit Training Center in Gangwon Province as an active-duty soldier. After his training, he was the assistant training instructor in the 36th Infantry Division in Wonju.
Kim Nam-joon, a.k.a. RM
RM and V joined the military together on December 11, 2023. He completed five weeks of boot camp at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan as a private. He was also a Chaplain Assistant. Later, he joined the military band of the 15th Infantry Division and was officially discharged on June 10, 2025. RM was recognized as an "Elite Trainee" and was also given the position of Platoon Leader.
Park Ji-min a.k.a. Jimin
Jimin and Jungkook enlisted in the military together on December 12, 2023. He joined as an active-duty soldier at the Army 5th Division Recruit Training Center in Yeoncheon. After five weeks of training, the singer came first and received the Best Trainee award. He was given the responsibility to be a representative of his unit. Later, he was appointed to the Artillery Unit in the 5th Infantry Division.
Kim Tae-hyung, a.k.a. V
Kim Tae-hyung joined his military service on December 11, 2023, and was serving under the Special Task Force of the Military Police Corps. V received a promotion, which made him a sergeant. He also collected a plethora of titles, including Platoon Leader, Special Warrior, and Exemplary Shooter. What is impressive is that the Winter Bear singer did it all with a cracked rib.
Jeon Jung-koo a.k.a. Jung Kook
The youngest member of the boy band enlisted in the military on December 12, 2023. His role may be the most different out of all the other members. Jung Kook took on the responsibility of Lead Cook Soldier and helped prepare meals for thousands of soldiers. His hard work led him to an early promotion to becoming a sergeant.
Just three more days and counting till all the members of BTS will be together again. While RM, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook were all discharged from their military service this month, the Bangtan Boys are waiting for their last member, Suga, to be discharged on June 21, 2025.
