Janet Jackson, best known for her 1986 studio album Control, will reportedly receive the Icon Award at the upcoming American Music Awards, as per Billboard.

The award is known to be bestowed on artists whose music has made a significant impact in the music culture, and when the news of Janet receiving this award made it to the internet, netizens and her fans were caught in a frenzy.

Janet Jackson, an influential figure in pop and R&B music, will reportedly receive the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards. As soon as this news made it on social media, it caught the attention of her fans, and they were quick to share their thoughts. This is what some of them had to say:

These were some of the reactions from fans and netizens. Currently, Janet is performing her Janet Jackson: Las Vegas residency at the Resorts World Theatre. The residency had begun on December 30, 2024, and is expected to conclude this month, on May 31, 2025.

Initially, there were ten performances; however, due to a high demand, six more shows were added. The residency follows the success of her song, "Together Again" from her 1997 sixth studio album, The Velvet Rope.

She had announced the news of her residency last year in August 2024 on her Instagram, with the caption:

"We’re so excited to announce our new residency at Resorts World Las Vegas launching New Year’s week! This is going to be a lot of fun and I look forward to spending the start of the New Year with you!! We truly can’t wait! Sending so much love ♥️ -J"

Janet Jackson was also nominated for the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame, given her significant contributions to the music industry.
