The first edition featured artists such as The Offspring, Stuck Out, and more, while the 2019 edition included acts like Parkway Drive, Bad Religion, and Simple Plan. After the 2019 edition, the festival went on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival returned in 2022, with Bring Me The Horizon and Deftones leading the lineup. Subsequent editions in 2023 and 2024 went on to feature Royal & the Serpent, Violent Femmes, and Mastodon, among others.

Previously the festival has featured sponsors such as:

  • Dangerfield
  • Jack Daniel's
  • Furphy Ale
  • Captain Morgan
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Marshall Amplification
  • Vans
  • Uppercut Deluxe

Destroy All Lines is a festival and live events organizer. Aside from Good Things Festival, the organizer has also produced Knotfest Australia, New Bloom Festival, Hellbound, and Park Waves Festival.

Festival promoter Chris O’Brien spoke to Rolling Stone Australia/NZ about Good Things Festival on February 3, 2025:

"I’ve never seen a more challenging festival environment in my life and have never seen so many festivals cancel in such a short space of time. Programming festivals is incredibly difficult as so many of our costs have sky rocketed over the past two to three years."

The festival director continued:

"The flow on effect is that the artists cost has also exploded and it makes it harder for them to come to Australia, so we have to pay more money to get them here. In the same breath we have to be conscience of our ticket prices, but our market has proved that if we keep delivering a quality lineup and a great day out, they will continue to support Good Things."

He later talked about the future of the festival, stating:

"2024 was another incredible year for us and we have managed to stay ahead of the curve and buck the trend. We don’t take that lightly and never assume people will keep supporting us. We have to maintain the rage and continue to offer them lineups that are exciting. I can guarantee that Good Things will be back in 2025."

Good Things Festival is primarily an alternative music festival. It has grown over the years, with thousands of people attending each edition. Previous editions of the festival have been held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne and Centennial Park in Sydney.
