Fab Morvan, a former member of the R&B group Milli Vanilli, has received a Grammy nomination years after his group’s Best New Artist Award was disgracefully revoked in 1990. Their award was the first and only to be revoked by the Recording Academy.

The German R&B duo became a musical sensation in 1988, winning a Grammy for Best New Artist. However, their award was revoked by the Recording Academy on November 19, 1990, when it came out that the duo weren't the actual singers of their songs and were instead lip-syncing even in live performances.

Morvan and Pilatus argued that they weren't without talent but were just victims of a bad contract. Morvan said in a December 2024 interview with Interview Magazine,

“I never really think about fame, but I do come from a family of musicians. People don’t know that — traditional Caribbean music.”

He added:

“I have a lot of composers in my family, so it was in the DNA. When it comes to what I am musically, you will discover that you haven’t seen anything yet. It’s something I was born with, and when you’re born with something, it stays with you forever.”

After his group's disgrace, Fab Morvan proved, 35 years later, that he deserved a Grammy. On Friday, November 7, 2025, the 59-year-old musician was nominated under the Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording category.
