NBA YoungBoy was reportedly honored with the key to the city of Atlanta during his MASA tour concert at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on October 15, 2025.

According to the reports, at least two more artists have received the key to the city of Atlanta. It includes Ludacris and Jussie Smollett.

NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, allegedly received the key for his influence on the hip-hop culture from the Atlanta officials, including State Representative Ingo Willis, Fulton County Commissioner Marvin Arrington, and Fulton County Probate Judge Kenya Johnson. The honor also recognized his anti-gun violence initiatives in schools and community philanthropy.

NBA YoungBoy is currently on his MASA tour, which started on September 1, 2025. The tour officially began in Dallas, Texas, at American Airlines Center. It will run through November 12 in Seattle, Washington, at the Climate Pledge Arena.

The extensive tour is launched in support of NBA YoungBoy's album, MASA (backronym as Make America Slime Again), which was released this year in July. It featured guest artists including DeeBaby, EBK Jaaybo, and K3, according to a report in Complex.

Ludacris

He was honored with the award in 2004 for his work through the Ludacris Foundation, which supports the youth of Atlanta with education and health initiatives. The About Us section of its official website noted:

“We inspire urban youth to live their dreams and envision new possibilities for their lives as we create experiences through our programs and partnerships. We work with celebrities, artists, and non-profit organizations in major cities across the country to showcase leadership and examples of success.”

Ludacris was also recognized for his work as a hip-hop artist.

Jussie Smollett

Reports suggested that the Empire star Jussie Smollett received the key to the city of Atlanta in November 2015. He is the brother of actress Jurnee Smollett. As an ambassador of Sean John, he was honored with the key for the brand’s partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta.

According to the Michigan Chronicle, after receiving the award, Smollett said:

“It was an honor receiving the key to the city. The people are so beautiful and lovely to me. I love Atlanta.”

Both Smollett and Sean John were recognised for the “Dream Big campaign.” It was reported that they donated $5000 to the organization.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Atlanta, officially known as Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA), is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive environment to the youth of Atlanta.

Fans reacted with excitement when rapper NBA YoungBoy was reportedly honored with the key to the city of Atlanta. His loyal fanbase, self-described as “Slimes” and “4KT” praise their favorite artist, calling him the “king” of Atlanta. Some also acknowledged his “GOAT status.”
