Drake is a Canadian rapper who recently had a long feud with Kendrick Lamar, with multiple songs by each rapper dissing the other in 2024. The feud has mostly died out, but it seems Drake has not made peace with Lamar, with the singer taking to social media to call Canadian politician Jagmeet Sing a 'Goof' for attending a Kendrick Lamar concert.
Jagmeet Singh has now apologized to Drake and OVO for attending the Lamar concert, stating that he had gone for SZA and not Lamar:
"I went for SZA, not Kendrick. I was born in this city. I love this city. But real talk. I get it. I shouldn't have gone at all. OVO and Drake have lifted this city and Canada(he used the Canadian Flag emoji in the statement). For me it will always be Drake over Kendrick Lamar."
Jagmeet Singh was the former leader of the New Democratic Party, and before that, he was part of the regional Ontario New Democratic Party. Singh resigned as party leader for the NDP after the party lost its official party status in their worst-ever election run. Jagmeet Singh was the first person of visible minority, aka hailing from a non-white minority, to become the leader of a Canadian federal-level political party.
Drake and Kendrick Lamar's feud overview
Drake and Kendrick Lamar's feud officially began in 2023, although there were other instances well before that. Arguably, the first time was back in 2013, when Lamar sang in the track Control that he had respect for all the rappers, including Drake, but he was looking to 'murder' them all in charts, a signal of his ambition:
"I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you n----s / Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n----s / They don't want to hear not one more noun or verb from you n----s."
This was followed by similar indirect diss and backtalk over the next half-decade before the feud went hot with the track First Person Shooter by Drake and J.Cole. The song suggested that Cole, the Canadian rapper, and Kendrick Lamar were the three great rappers of the modern era.
In response, Kendrick Lamar refuted the claim in the track Like That with Metro Boomin, resulting in a subsequent back-and-forth between the two rappers that lasted over a year, with Drake making a total of six tracks and Kendrick Lamar making five tracks. These tracks are major hits on the chart now, particularly Not Like Us by Lamar and Family Matters by Drake.
Alongside the two rappers, there were also tracks by Metro Boomin and Future, as well as J Cole, A$AP Rocky, Jessica Pratt, Rick Ross, Sexxy Red, and SZA, with some collaborating with others to release tracks related to this feud.
The feud had some significant impact on the Hip-Hop music landscape, with Drake going on to file lawsuits against UMG. The latest lawsuit was filed by the Canadian rapper in January 2025.
Lamar, meanwhile, went on to win the Record of the Year and Song of the Year awards at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The song also won Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video. A sharp contrast to Drake, who was not nominated even in one of the categories that Lamar won.
