Inside Florence Welch’s upcoming album Everybody Scream: how Adele, Jade, and Swans inspired her creative process

Florence Welch, frontwoman of Florence + The Machine frontman, announced her upcoming album, Everybody Scream, on August 19, 2025. The announcement comes after the singer and songwriter shared multiple visual teasers on her social media.

On August 11, 2025, Welch posted a video on her Instagram profile of herself digging furiously in a pit in the ground and yelling into it. In another visual, the singer is seen walking across a field in a blood-red dress with matching shoes.

Everybody Scream drops on Halloween Day 2025. In a TikTok video shared by @PopBase, Welch explained that she had worked with IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen for the album:

“When we started working together, I sent Bowen a playlist and it’s coming, it’s really on there, you know those ones….. I remember hearing that song and just the build and like the intensity of it. Like, it’s so ominous."

She also revealed her sources of inspiration for the album, mentioning Adele, Jade Thirlwall and Swans

“I think what I was looking for was an ominous feeling, but that also has clarity and beauty, and you know, those incredible soaring choruses of like Adele and incredible ballads."

She continued:

“we were looking a lot at Pop as well and the amazing things that are happening in pop. Like, it’s so experimental at the moment. Angel of my Dreams, we were listening to Angel of my Dreams by Jade a lot in the studio."

While the artist and her band keep several details about the upcoming album under wraps, they have let it slip that the LP will feature 12 new songs. The tracklist and lead single are still a mystery to fans.

Welch and her band’s last album, Dance Fever (2022), was produced with Kid Harpoon and Jack Antonoff. The album reached number 7 on the Billboard 200 and reigned supreme at number one on the UK Official Albums.

In 2024, the 38-year-old artist was a guest on Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department album. In October 2024, Welch and her band assembled a live album from their performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
