Kanye West’s first-ever solo show in South Korea canceled following controversy

Kanye West's first solo concert in South Korea, titled BULLY, has officially been canceled by Coupang Play. Ye was scheduled to perform at the Incheon Munhak Stadium on May 31, organized by Coupang Play. However, Coupang Play released a statement on May 19, announcing the cancellation of Ye's concert. The complete statement read,

"We would like to inform you that the ‘YE Korea Concert’ scheduled for Saturday, May 31st has been inevitably canceled due to the recent controversy surrounding singer Kanye West (YE)."

Also, the statement provided information about the termination of Yeezy brand MD products by stating that,

"Additionally, sales of Yeezy brand MD products will also be discontinued starting at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 19. We ask for your generous understanding as we wait for the performance. We will provide refund information individually to ticket purchasers."

As per Coupang Play's statement, the company may hold new shows in the future and hopes to bring more events to fans when the time is right.

The primary reason behind this cancellation is speculated to be the release of Kanye's song Heil Hitler, praising Adolf Hitler, on May 8. The date coincides with the day when people remember the end of World War II in Europe.

Many big music streaming platforms, like YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud, took the step of removing and blacklisting the song from their platforms to prevent users from listening to it.

Other recent controversies surrounding Kanye West

Kanye West is a controversial name in the music industry. In addition to releasing a song praising Hitler, he has also made offensive comments about Jewish people in the past, such as the following:

"I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE."

The tweet was believed to refer to a military alert level, DEFCON 3. These actions upset his fans and led to strong criticism, hurting his image even more.

In 2025, Ye was banned from Twitch after a short livestream where he made comments about the Jewish people and LGBTQ+ communities. His actions reportedly broke the platform rules and led to his ban from the platform.

Kanye West also faced backlash for adding disturbing content to his song Cousin. In the lyrics, he shared that he had a se*ual relationship with a cousin during his childhood. He also mentioned that the same cousin was later sentenced to life in prison for allegedly killing a pregnant woman.
