Korean girl group MEOVV is set to release its debut album, My Eyes Open Wide, on May 12, 2025. The group dropped its "Brazilian"-funk"-inspired pre-release track, Hands Up, on April 28, 2025. Following the release of their new single, the group spoke to Teen Vogue about their album and Blackpink Rosé's advice.
Ella revealed their unnie's (affectionate term for older sister in Korean), Rosé's, advice for striking the balance between work and self-care. She noted,
"She mentioned the importance of having a good amount of alone time in between practices."
Ella added,
"Though we still find ways to hang out even during our free time. We got so lucky, we're like a perfect match, personality-wise. We get along too well."
Gawon chimed in to describe their dynamic when they are not working. She said,
"Even at the dorm when it should be our alone time, we're all in the living room, like watching movies."
MEOVV reveals BLACKPINK’s Rosé's valuable advice in Teen Vogue interview

MEOVV has been launched by the same record label, Black Label, which reportedly signed an agreement with Blackpink's Rosé for her solo projects in 2024. The group shared the Apt singer's advice for them, including ensuring "alone time" between their "practices." They gave an insider look into their experiences and noted that they gel perfectly. They noted,
"We’ve never fought. And we hope to keep that going."
MEOVV revealed their mantra to keep them together, in the face of tensions, per Teen Vogue. They remind each other,
"I respect you, you respect me, we respect each other."
They also revealed their producer, Teddy Park's, advice to them before each performance. Ella noted,
"Before every shoot, he’d message our group chat, saying, 'Don’t stop filming until you’re satisfied with the outcome.' He knows we all have high standards for ourselves and wants us to be happy with our work."
The group also talked about their latest release, Hands Up. At the time of writing, the track has been viewed more than 5 million times on YouTube, a day after its release. Gawon noted that it is a "completely different genre". She added,
"It's inspired by Brazilian funk, which we’ve never tried before. So sonically, it’s very new for us. The message, too, is lighter, more playful than the fierce and confident vibe we’ve shown so far."
Ella extrapolated the theme to the upcoming release of their album and said,
"We’re almost preparing for a battle. Not just with this song but with the EP that’s coming out in May, it’s like we’re showing a whole new side of us."
MEOVV sat down with Teen Vogue to reveal their dynamics and how they gel with each other. The group also shared advice from their mentors, Blackpink's Rose and Teddy Park. MEOVV have set the stage for their EP with the new track, Hands Up and wishes to meet their fans and perform in their "hometowns."
