Nessa Barrett released her second studio album, Aftercare, on November 15, 2024. The album was released via Warner Records and has managed to chart within the top 100 positions in the US and Irish charts.
Nessa Barrett talked about Aftercare in an exclusive interview with Euphoria Magazine on February 28, 2025, talking about how difficult it was to write the album:
"In the beginning, it was insanely difficult. I’ve always written my music from a really dark place, and I had substance in my life to pull from. But my life was so good that it was almost boring, and trying to write an album from nothing was really frustrating.
The singer continued:
"Once I started developing a new world and concept—pulling inspiration from all over rather than just my own life—it became much easier. Most of the songs were written in about four weeks, sometimes two a day. It went from being super hard to really easy once I found my groove."
Nessa Barrett later talked about the perspective showcased in the album:
"The whole album is written from the point of view of a character that ultimately comes from me. It’s more of a dramatised version of myself. This character formed from who I am, but it’s written as someone I wanted to become. So, while many of the songs feel like fantasies, I was also able to dig deep and pull from past experiences."
Nessa Barrett's birth name is Janesa Jaida Barrett. The singer, being 22 years old, started her career back in 2019. She released her debut album, Young Forever, on October 14, 2022, after signing a recording contract with Warner Records in 2020.
